I have had the privilege of working with Tony as my executive coach for over two years now and highly recommend him.
He exemplifies the term, “coach.” His ability to listen to what others say and are not saying is unmatched. Plus, he has the rare gift of being able to incite others to take actions they have only dreamed of taking. I not only value his opinion but rely on it for important personal and business decisions.
Tony’s executive coaching has been the most valuable professional support I’ve ever received.

Tony has been my CEO executive coach since 2006. I doubt anyone could truly understand the impact of working with him until they have experienced it. I get input from many sources and experts but everyone else is telling me what they would do in my place.
Tony seems to draw out from me my own best thinking and helps me see what is best for myself. I don’t get that anywhere else.
Tony is a true professional, and has a way of truly transforming my thinking to achieve positive results. It’s amazing how I can go into a conversation with him feeling overwhelmed and leave knowing that I can focus and execute on the things that will make the most impact on my business in the short- and long-term.
I highly recommend Tony to anyone with a rich life who wants to make it even better!

Tony has the unique ability to bring out the best in you. In executive coaching sessions, he can articulate thoughts so clearly that you understand yourself and your options better after just a quick conversation.
Because of working with Tony Mayo as my CEO executive coach, I:
- Started one-on-one meetings with my staff, which helps to focus the team on reaching defined goals.
- Learned to let go of guilt for taking time off; taking time off helps to gain perspective and be more productive when at work. [See also, Boss’s Vacation, on this blog.]
- Reduced my operational involvement so I could focus on strategy and building customer relationships.
He is a straight shooter, knows when and how to dig deeper to get to the root of an issue, and stays on top of your goals so you achieve more fulfillment in your own life, personally and professionally.
I HIGHLY recommend him.
The dynamics at the meetings spur insightful dialog among the members to solve real world business problems. I have found myself on many occasions seeing my own situations being addressed in someone else’s discussion. Being the boss can be a lonely job since few understand what we go through. This group has helped me grow both personally and professionally

Over ten years ago, I conducted a group coaching program for executives. The participants got fantastic results and I got some nice publicity, including the cover of the Washington Times business section on May 26, 1997. That is me in the photo at right, framed by a black rope.
To give you an idea of the enduring results from my executive coaching, here is a letter from a participant, reprinted with her permission, written more than a year and a half after she completed the course. Be sure to scroll down to see me at her wedding, one of the results she credits to the coaching.

Dear Tony,
I don’t know why it’s taken me so long to write you and tell you what’s been happening in my life since I took your course, “Genuine Success: Vitality, Service, and Outstanding Performance” (VSOP), in the summer of 1997, but here I am.
No, I want to correct that. My life has become very full. Also, I think I was avoiding (more…)

I was in a situation where I was going to either buy or sell my half of my company from my business partner. I was introduced to Tony and became a member of the peer advisory group he manages. I got valuable feedback that made me realize that I should buy the company. The group really helped me see my situation in an objective way. Based on this feedback, I bought my company from my business partner and I’ve been very pleased with this decision.
The group, under Tony’s mentorship, has been a great help to me as a business owner. Tony is adept at facilitating groups to get the most out of its participants and he has great business advice to share.
It always amazes me that people with such varied business and personal backgrounds share many of the same issues–and how their experiences and feedback can be instrumental in understanding how I might handle a problem or issue in my business or personal life.

Working with Tony, I feel like I am getting my masters in business all over again only with more fun and immediate rewards. He has this gift for illustrating a point with stories and real world examples that make the lessons far more meaningful and lasting.
His coaching style incorporates a gentle pressure and caring directness that pushes me to be a better manager, friend, and husband.
I would highly recommend Tony for anyone interested in improving their management and interpersonal effectiveness.

Organizational coaching has been found to positively affect leadership, increasing charismatic behaviors and the ability to inspire and impact followers.1 The results of a study done by the Corporate Leadership Council2 indicate that executive coaching helps improve management capabilities in experimenting with new approaches, shifting to an enabling style of managing, successfully dealing with difficult performance and team issues, and freeing up time for strategic thinking through more effective delegating.

Here is the story of one CEO who completed my executive effectiveness course Genuine Success: Vitality, Service, and Outstanding Performance in 1997. Notice how contemporary her concerns sound, twelve years later.
“Everybody is fearful about their jobs,” reports Genuine Success: V.S.O.P. graduate Marta Swymelar, “What will I do if this job gets downsized? We keep hearing: Social Security won’t be there, you can’t depend on your pension plan, you can’t be sure of the stock market…” Like many people sharing these concerns, Marta had some ideas about what she should be doing to protect herself in this insecure era. Returning to school to get an MBA, for example, was (more…)

I had the opportunity to work along-side Tony in an environment which required creativity and an ability to effectively manage pressure. He not only does that well, but is very professional and loyal as he helps others sort through business and personal options.
